Glitnir implements SAP planning systeml
Glitnir has implemented a SAP planning system in co-operation with AppliCon. This is a stage in the bank’s rollout of the SAP Financial Suite. Some parts of the system, i.e. the Group returns and the financial and internal accounting, have already been implemented.
Glitnir managers prepare complex plans
The SAP planning system is a powerful tool for managers. The system solves complicated calculations that are used in the bank’s forecasting. Over 100 managers at Glitnir, both here in Iceland and overseas, will be using the system and utilising it to prepare forecasts for their departments. User access to the system is through a simple web interface which makes all use of the system very easy.
The effectiveness of proper organisation
The implementation of the system met all timetables and lasted for approximately three months last summer. Among those involved in the project were experts from AppliCon in Iceland in co-operation with Applicon’s sister company, Applicon in Denmark. According to Tómas Einarsson, the SAP development manager at Glitnir who managed the implementation, the excellent co-operation between Glitnir and Applicon was the key to success. “Properly defined plans and good organisation played a key role in keeping us on schedule. Employee experience was also very important. The SAP planning system, furthermore, is very easy to set up, particularly so given the complicated projects it solves,” said Tómas.
A satisfactory result for Glitnir
Anna Thóra Aradóttir manages Glitnir’s planning operations and is very pleased with the results. “As a matter of fact, I didn’t dare hope that things would turn out so well, as any implementation of this size is an extremely complicated process,” she said. According to Anna, the SAP planning system will be extremely useful for managers when planning. The SAP planning system can handle extremely complicated calculations and will, without a doubt, be very important for the work of Glitnir managers in the future.
Extensive experience within AppliCon
Gudbjörg Árnadóttir is the manager of the Applicon Financial Team, and she says that the employees of the Applicon companies have gained a great deal of experience in similar projects, something which benefits customers directly. “Our consultants have worked extensively with Icelandic companies in their ventures overseas and thus gained the experience necessary to implement complicated international processes”. Applicon employs around 20 consultants in the field of financial solutions.
